Make your own Easy Pretzel Dogs in minutes with pre-made pizza dough. No mixing, no kneading, plenty of deliciousness!
Jump to RecipeNo matter which entrance I use, I can smell Auntie Anne’s as soon as I walk into the mall. It lures me in every time and it’s not long before I have a pretzel in one hand and a pretzel dog in the other.
You don’t have to wait until a trip to the mall to enjoy a pretzel dog, though. They’re easily made a home with a package of hot dogs and some pre-made pizza dough from the refrigerator section of the grocery store.

And when you make your own Easy Pretzel Dogs, you can top them any way you want! My favorite is with some Everything but the Bagel Seasoning from Trader Joe’s. What’s your favorite topping?
What You’ll Need to Make Easy Pretzel Dogs
- 1 Package of 8 Hot Dogs
- 1 Package of Pre-Made Pizza Dough
- Egg Yolk
- Baking Soda
- Topping of Your Choice – Salt, Poppy Seeds, Sesame Seeds, Everything but the Bagel Seasoning, etc.
- Large Baking Sheet
- Parchment Paper
- Large Pot
Tips
- It’s important that you allow the pizza dough to come to room temperature before making your Easy Pretzel Dogs. If the dough is too cold, it won’t rise and your pretzel dogs will be gummy and will taste undercooked.
- Not only do kids love eating pretzel dogs, but this recipe is easy enough that your kids can have fun making them, as well. Let your little ones roll the dough into ropes and wrap the hot dogs while you manage the boiling and baking.

- Beat the egg yolk with one tablespoon of water. Brush each pretzel dog with the egg wash and sprinkle with your desired topping.
- Bake the pretzel dogs for 12 – 14 minutes or until golden brown.
